Program Details
This private Algonquin Provincial Park photography workshop is all about getting you water access to great subjects for beautiful wildlife and landscape photography. We do not teach you how to use your camera. There are good YouTube videos, or other technical workshops, for that. We provide intimate park access, local nature interpretation, effortless eco friendly mobility, and safety, that you could not accomplish on your own.  Always innovating the canoe tour industry, Algonquin Adventure Tours became the first Canadian company to start guiding with eco-friendly Torqeedo electric motors from Germany. These silent, yet powerful, 3hp motors, allows our customized canoe to approach wildlife with a spectacular water level perspective.  The 3 hour adventure is split 70% silent electric motor and 30% paddling (by your guide). This workshop is perfect for those who want to have their hands completely free for photography. This workshop will travel to secluded corners of historic Canoe Lake, provide a scenic picnic (Henrietta's sandwich & granola bar or breakfast pastries), hunt beautiful scenery reflections while paddling down meandering stream systems and ethically seek wildlife to photograph. All ages and fitness levels are welcome - we've had participants between 8 months and 85 years old on this adventure. This Algonquin Park photography workshop is guided by the Algonquin Adventure Tours founder, Stuart Lorne Letovsky.

This workshop has three areas of focus:
1) Algonquin Park Wildlife Photography - For bird photography, the common loon, great blue heron, Canada goose, common merganser, king fisher, grey jay, grackle, blue jay, eagle, hawk, osprey, turkey vulture, pipers and gulls are common subjects. We often get to photograph snapping turtles, painted turtles and frogs, as well. If you like insect photography, there are often good opportunities for dragonfly and butterfly photography. Although less common, we have enjoyed beaver, muskrat, otter, mink, racoon, chipmunk, squirrel, deer and moose photography. Although we can't guarantee seeing a moose (please note that our Algonquin Park 3 day moose, beaver & loon photography safari is your best opportunity to photograph a Canadian moose), or any particular animal, we can guarantee creating excellent photos & memories for a lifetime.

2) Algonquin Park Landscape Photography - Fabulous fall colors, misty mornings, perfect panoramas, righteous reflections and supreme sunsets are all possible on this super scenic photography workshop. On rainy days, you might even see a rainbow.

3) Tom Thomson & Algonquin Park History - Algonquin Park was Tom Thomson's inspiration. And this tour will inspire you, by literally walking in the footsteps of Tom Thomson. Your guide will recount a vast knowledge of all things Thomson & Algonquin.
With limited space and rave reviews, our tours fill up quickly. So, please make your reservations (see below) early.

Wind on the open water can make temperatures feel 10 degrees colder, so please dress accordingly. Please also note that on windy days clients can get a tad wet from wave spray, but we have good ponchos for clients, if required.

Custom workshops of any duration are always available - just contact us for more information. Workshops are run rain or shine (as long as there is no lightning). We may delay departure by up to 1 hour. Refund/credits will be only be issued if a trip is canceled for lightning. Life jackets are provided and MUST be worn at all times.

Participants will need to purchase their car day permit at either entrance gate to Algonquin park, or at the Ontario parks office at the far end of the stony beach where we meet.
