6 Hour Introduction To Basic Canoe Skills Course

Prices
$119 + 13% tax ($59 kids 12 & under) per person. Age 7+. 2 adult fare minimum per booking. Solo participants must contact us to find a good day on our calendar. Private workshops are possible - contact us. With young children, please consider our VIP motorized canoe tour.

When
Daily @ 11:30am-5:30pm, June 5 - October 4, 2021. Reservations are required (see calendar below).

Where
We meet by the picnic tables, next to the Ontario Parks permit office (not the nearby store), actually on the stony Canoe Lake beach(access point #5), inside Algonquin Provincial Park. Please look for our vans, canoes or uniformed guides with the Canadian flag logo.
This 6 hour Introduction to Algonquin Park canoeing workshop will provide all the basic canoe skills required for safe flatwater tandem canoeing. Please note that this group course is a proprietary Algonquin Adventure Tours program based on our 25 years (in 2021) of professional canoe instruction. As much as we enjoy repeat business, the purpose of this canoeing course is to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely operate their own tandem canoe next time. All Algonquin Adventure Tours canoe instructors are full time canoe trip guides with related post secondary education and credentials.

No experience is required, but all participants (except ages 7-9) must be able to paddle hard for about 4 hours of this canoe workshop. Steering a boat will only be offered to those age 16+ and who are physically strong enough.

This workshop is the same as our 6 hour Algonquin Park canoe day trip tour, so participants will enjoy the same short portage, scenic views, exciting cliff jumping, gourmet baked goods, Algonquin Park nature and history interpretation, and profound natural connections. You can see additional photos here.
